Hong Kong police arrested a man and a woman for drug trafficking after a raid at a public housing estate in Fanling, the New Territories on Monday.

At 8pm, the police officers intercepted a 33-year-old man surnamed Yuen outside an apartment in Fanling’s Wah Ming Estate and found 40 grams of suspected methamphetamine, also known as “ice” in his possession, news website HK01.com reported.

Yeun was arrested for possession of illegal drugs, after which the police took him to his apartment. There, they found another ten grams of suspected ice hidden inside a sculpture of the late Chinese leader Mao Zedong. A 48-year-old woman surnamed Lee in the apartment was also arrested.

The estimated market value of the seized drugs is around HK$13,000 (US$1,656). Police believe that the raid has closed down one of the main drug suppliers in the Sheung Shui district, Sing Tao Daily reported.
