أكد سفير إيران في لندن حميد نجاد استعداد بلاده لخوض حرب إذا لزم ذلك، بعد تصريح رئيس الولايات المتحدة دونالد ترامب أن إيران «ستعاني كثيراً» إذا اتخذت إجراءات استفزازية تجاه بلاده.
جاء تحذير السفير الإيراني أمس الثلاثاء أثناء مقابلة مع قناة سكاي نيوز بعد تصاعد التوتر بين البلدين في الفترة السابقة إلى مرحلة الأزمة.
أكد نجاد في حديثه للقناة الأمريكية: «رغم أننا ندين أي تصعيد في المنطقة، أنا أؤكد أن القوات الإيرانية في كامل الاستعداد لأي حدث في المنطقة، وعليهم ألا يختبروا عزيمة إيران على مواجهة أي تصعيد في المنطقة».
كانت الولايات المتحدة أعلنت خلال الأسبوع الماضي توجيه حاملة طائرات وأنظمة صواريخ لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط تحسباً لأي تحرك إيراني. وأكد البنتاجون يوم الجمعة أن الولايات المتحدة «جاهزة للدفاع عن القوات والمصالح الأمريكية في المنطقة»، رغم أنها لا تسعى لنزاع مع إيران.
جاء هذا بعد اتهام إيران بالضلوع في هجومين استهدفا ناقلات نفط سعودية في المياة الإقليمية الإماراتية ومحطتي ضخ نفط سعوديتين خلال الأسبوع الماضي. إيران أنكرت وجود أي علاقة لها بالهجومين.
كانت إيران أصدرت تحذير الأسبوع الماضي للدول الموقعة على الاتفاق النووي تمهلها 60 يوم لكسر المقاطعة التي فرضتها الولايات المتحدة على قطاعي المصارف والنفط الإيرانيين. وأكدت إيران أنها ستتوقف عن الالتزام ببنود الاتفاق فيما يخص التخصيب النووي إذا لم تستجيب الدول الموقعة لمطالبها.
