A total of 72 passengers were trapped on a ride at Hong Kong Disneyland for 30 minutes on Saturday. At 4:45pm, two carts of the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars roller coaster suddenly stopped in the middle of the run, Sing Pao reported.

The two carts stopped on an incline on the track. The riders were stuck for half an hour until Disney staff rescued them. The riders then used a staircase near the track to get back down to the ground.

No one was injured or suffering any ill effects. The rescued riders were each offered a bottle of water and a food voucher, Apple Daily reported.

Some visitors who had been queueing up for an hour said they dared not try the ride for a while.

Disney personnel said the ride reopened after an inspection, but the theme park did not disclose what had gone wrong with the ride.

In 2017, at least three similar accidents happened at the same facility during which riders were trapped for half an hour.
