A dozen school children were injured by broken glass after a school bus was hit by scaffolding in Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island on Monday.

A bus from Raimondi College Primary Section was driving along Queen’s Road East and made a right turn into Tai Wong Street East, where the vehicle hit scaffolding outside a shop, Ta Kung Pao reported.

The bus was reportedly driven too close to the sidewalk and the scaffolding, measuring 4 meters by 15 meters, hit windows at the rear of the bus.

Windows were broken and glass was scattered around the scene, cutting 12 school kids who were sitting at the back of the bus.

Ten boys and two girls, aged from 10 to 12, were injured on their hands and legs.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and treated the children’s wounds before sending them to a hospital. The rest of the children on the bus were not hurt.
