A 39-year-old Filipina domestic worker was sentenced to three days in prison, suspended for a year, at the Eastern Magistrates’ Court in Hong Kong on Tuesday on one count of theft.

Lulu Pasia pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing assorted items at Uniqlo in Causeway Bay on Hong Kong on March 17, sunwebhk.com reported. She had denied the charge last month, but changed her plea on Tuesday.

She admitted entering the Uniqlo shop at Lee Theatre Plaza last month and taking eight pairs of boxer shorts, eight pairs of socks, three umbrellas, one backpack and one handbag. She put the stolen items in her backpack and walked away without paying.

When she left the shop, she was stopped and searched by a staff who had monitored her. Police were called and arrested her. She told the court she was silly and wanted to go home for good as she had been unemployed after the incident.

In an earlier hearing in her case, the prosecution said her employer was going to terminate her job contract on April 5 because of the incident. After sentencing, the magistrate Peter Law told the defendant she could go home.
