A woman who fell to hear death from a waterfall in Hong Kong’s New Territories on Friday was reportedly a single mother with a four-year-old son.

The 26-year-old victim Micah Roth Russell-Ware was living in a village house in Tong Fuk on Lantau Island along with her son, her younger sister and a Filipina domestic worker, Sing Tao Daily reported.

The victim went hiking with her younger sister and four friends at Ng Tung Chai in Tai Po on Friday. During the hike she lost her balance and fell to her death while taking a photograph.

It is understood that Micah’s mother is a Filipino who married a foreign man in Hong Kong, where their two daughters were born. The couple later divorced.

Micah, who attended an international school and spoke very good English, had a stable job in customer service at a financial institution. Her son was born four years ago.  She loved outdoor activities and hiking.

According to her female landlord, who lives in the same village house, Micah and her sister had been renting the flat for more than 10 years, and was a nice, polite woman. The landlord and other neighbors in the village were said to be sad about the accident.

When Micah’s younger sister was contacted by a reporter from the newspaper, she said that she was at a loss over how to take care of her nephew.
