A total of eight people were arrested in two police raids on Tuesday and Wednesday at separate premises set up as online gambling operations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In the first raid at 2.45am on April 16, six men, identified by police as four Bangladeshis and two ethnic Indian Malaysian men aged between 26 and 40, were arrested in premises that had allegedly been used for gambling for a week on Lorong Brunei 3 on Jalan Pudu, the China Press reported.

Multiple devices included a terminal, a modem, 15 laptops and 233 ringgit in cash were seized at the scene.

At 8:20pm on Wednesday, a man and an woman, aged 30 and 31, both Indonesian nationals, were arrested at another location within the same premises. They were believed to be in the process of setting up and operating as an online gambling center. Police seized 16 laptops.

The acting police chief of Dang Wangi district appealed to the public to report any illegal gambling activities in their neighborhood to its Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) unit.
