A 56-year-old Canadian teacher denied two indecent assault charges at Kowloon City’s Magistrates Court in Hong Kong on Monday.
The defendant Robert Scott Johnson, an English teacher at a kindergarten in the Cheung Sha Wan district of Kowloon, pleaded not guilty to allegedly molesting two six-year-old girls in the classroom, reported Sing Pao Daily.
The defendant had been working at the kindergarten as an English teacher for three years and the alleged assault happened on July 13 last year.
One of the victims identified as X testified in a videotaped interview saying the came into the classroom during the afternoon nap session. There were two class teachers in the classroom at the time.
X said the defendant put his hands in her shorts and touched the inner part of her thigh three times. X felt uncomfortable and said to the accused “don’t touch me” in Cantonese and “No! Stop!” in English.
X remembered that her classmate Y was next to her and witnessed the incident. Y tried to pull at the defendant’s clothing and asked him to stop.
X reported the incident to her class teacher.
Meanwhile, in videotaped testimony Y testified that the defendant touched her underpants and her private parts. She said she was covered by a blanket and the class teachers did not see her being molested.
The defense lawyer questioned X and Y for not shouting out loud to alert their class teachers. X said the teachers were busy and she did not want to disturb them.
Y clearly told the court that it was the defendant who molested her, not one of her classmates.
The trial continues.
