The Malaysian authorities are looking for two Indonesian women who were caught on CCTV apparently stealing a gold chain on Saturday from a gold shop in Terengganu.

The Hulu Terengganu district police learned that the incident took place at about 2:30pm on April 6. However the shop owner only realized the loss while performing a stock take the next day, following which she filed a report with the police, the China Press reported.

According to the victim, the two suspects were captured on the shop’s security camera system. Footage reportedly shows the women entering the shop on the pretext of buying jewelry, and in the video one of them can be seen taking a necklace and slipping it into her handbag. Shortly after this, they both left the shop.

The missing necklace has an estimated value of 7,350 ringgit (US$1,785).

The police have distributed photofits of the two female suspects, and urge members of the public who have information on them or their whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.
