Soldiers at the border in Quang Ngai, Vietnam, seized more than half a ton of explosives being brought into the country illegally on April 25.
At about 9 am on that day, Truong Duy Chuyen was caught carrying 50 kilograms of explosives and 100 detonators on his motorbike when border soldiers and police stopped and searched him, Viet Nam News reported.
His wife was also carrying 25kg of explosives from her house and was headed to an unspecified destination.
The houses of Chuyen and his relatives were searched by authorities, who seized a total of 575kg of explosives, 1,050 detonators and 1,005 meters of slow-burning fuses.
Chuyen later admitted he had bought all the explosives to sell them to fishermen who use them to catch fish.
