Four Vietnamese men were jailed in Australia on Friday after being found guilty of running a cannabis operation.

Kim Phuong, 50, and 38-year-old Tuan Day Trinh were both sentenced to three years and four months for “cultivating a large commercial quantity of a prohibited plant,” VN Express reported. Anh Quang Pham, 26, was jailed for two years and three months and 27-year-old Vuong Luu Quoc was given two years and six months.

The four were arrested in February 2017 after multiple raids resulted in hundreds of cannabis plants being found on six properties in Maitland, New South Wales. The men confessed to watering and maintaining the cannabis plants in a court hearing in October 2018. Trinh and Quoc could be deported to Vietnam after their jail terms due to their illegal status.

In Australia, the possession of a significant amount of cannabis is illegal. The possession of a small amount for personal use, however, is not illegal in some states.
