Four teenagers were arrested on Friday night and charged with robbery in Stanley on Hong Kong Island.
At 10:24 pm, a 32-year-old man reported to police that when he walked past 11 Stanley Main Street, four young people tried to steal his belongings but failed and the escaped, Sing Pao reported.
Fifteen minutes later, police received a report from a 14-year-old boy that he had been attacked by four teenagers when he walked past 25 Stanley Market Road. The gang snatched his mobile phone worth HK$1,100 (US$140) and wallet with HK$70 cash in it.
The boy had injuries to his head and hands and was taken to the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for treatment. After an initial investigation, police classed the two cases as attempted robbery and robbery. They later arrested a 16-year-old Hong Kong teenager and two foreign teenagers aged 15 and 16 in Stanley.
Another 17-year-old Hong Kong man was arrested in Kowloon Tong. The case was being followed up by the anti-triad squad at Western Police Station.
