A Filipina woman was stabbed to death after having an argument with her cousin in Pittsburg, California, on April 1.
The crime happened at a house in Beechwood Court when Kirstiene Catapusan had an argument with her cousin Henry Brodie III. Family members tried to intervene and called 911 when Brodie started stabbing Catapusan multiple times, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
Police arrived and found that Catapusan suffered from stab wounds to her upper body. She was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where she died from her wounds. Brodie admitted to police that he stabbed Catapusan with a large knife during their argument.
The District Attorney’s Office has filed murder charges against Brodie, who was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility and remains in jail on a US$2 million bail.
The incident was the second homicide in Pittsburg in eight days, following the fatal shooting of Paul Shatswell, the Pittsburg Adult School Principal, on March 24. The city has had four homicides in the past six months.
