Police in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi say they will be pressing charges against a drunk driver involved in a fatal collision on Monday night.
Do Xuan Tuyen, 49, drove into five motorcycles and an electric bicycle while driving on Vinh Ho Street late on April 22, Viet Nam News reported.
However, he allegedly continued driving down two other streets, where things got much worse – he crashed into a garbage truck, another motorbike and a car.
Police said a woman working on the garbage truck was killed on the spot at about 11.15pm.
Tuyen’s car broke down and local residents were able to stop him and hand him over to the police before he could escape.
He then confessed that he had drunk five to seven glasses of beer before he got into the driver’s seat and that he could not control the speed of the car when he got going.
According to local media, Tuyen has been charged with violating traffic regulations and will remain in police custody while their investigation continues.
