4月23日，網友吳先生發帖稱，南方醫科大學順德醫院近期有3名新生兒在住院期間因細菌或病毒感染致死，其中有自己4月6日出生的孩子。

吳先生稱，4月7至10日期間孩子被發現感染了一種支原體細菌，4月11日轉院到廣東省人民醫院，經檢測發現病原為腸道病毒。「但是由於轉院時已經爆發了感染性休克，病情已處於危重狀態，經過一個多星期的治療，孩子最終因病毒感染致嚴重凝血功能異常、顱內嚴重出血、多臟器衰竭而死亡。」

吳先生稱，共有三例新生兒均為出生後在醫院發生爆發型感染，病情相似，最後死亡。他說，4月9日至12日期間，順德醫院新生兒科大批向廣州上級醫院轉新生兒，包括珠江醫院、廣東省人民醫院、廣東省婦幼保健院等。

吳先生發帖後，當地衛生部門介入調查。院方表示，經該醫院自查，前述3例患兒在該院的診療過程符合規範，目前不認為與院內感染有關。患兒死亡原因及更多信息有待專家組的調查。24日早上，廣東省和佛山市衛健部門相關調查組已經到達該醫院，調查這一新生兒死亡事件。

對於患兒轉院，醫院的說法是，該院的確曾有一批新生兒轉院，但與要裝修有關，與患兒的治療需要也有關。記者雖多次詢問，但醫院未透露近期轉院患兒的數量。院方稱，醫院的設計是八年前做的，目前難以滿足需求，所以需要重新裝修。

新生兒死亡的消息牽動了很多人的心，網友們呼籲盡快調查，公布實情。
