A Filipino domestic worker in Saudi Arabia has appealed for help and to be rescued from an employer who allegedly abused her.
The Filipina, who has been working for an employer in Damman for two years, said she had been hurt multiple times by her female employer. She claimed the woman had kicked and slapped her on many occasions, GMA News reported.
The domestic worker alerted fellow Filipinos, who helped her get help via social media. In social media posts, she said she had been forced to work long hours and rarely got decent meals. The Filipina also had limited communication with the family she works for.
The Filipina’s recruitment agency did not give an official statement, but employees at the agency said they were already coordinating with their counterparts in Dammam about the woman’s situation.
Hans Leo Cacdac, administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, said they would investigate the case and take appropriate action. Cacdac said they would gather information on the Filipina’s recruiters in the Philippines and contact the labor attache and welfare officer.
