A 42-year-old domestic worker was arrested by Hong Kong police on Wednesday for allegedly striking a six-year-old girl in Kowloon.

The arrest came after a woman called the police to report that her domestic worker had attacked her six-year-old daughter by kicking her, Sing Tao Daily reported.

The alleged assault took place in the One Kai Tak apartment complex. It was understood that the domestic worker and the girl had a dispute over the child’s behavior.

Police arrived and classified the case as one of alleged child abuse. The girl, who had no obvious injuries, was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a medical check-up.

The report did not mention the nationality of the domestic worker. The crime investigation unit of Sau Mau Ping Police Station is following up the case.
