A group of three forest watchers in India were attacked by a tiger on Sunday, with one hospitalized for treatment.
At about 10:30 am on March 24, the three were in the Irulam area of Wayanand, Kozhikode, in the state of Kerala patrolling the forest when a tiger attacked them, The Times of India reported.
A trap cage had been installed in the area to capture the tiger as it had been killing domestic animals in the neighborhood.
Local forest officer P Ranjithkumar said the tiger was hiding in a bush when the three were patrolling the area. He added that there was speculation the 10-year-old tiger had been weakened by injuries and one more cage will be placed to capture the big cat.
Shajan, one of the three people attacked by the big cat, was clawed on his head and was being treated at the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital.
The other two have since been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.
