A cold front is expected to move across the southern China coast on Friday night which will bring thundery showers and cooler weather to Hong Kong on the weekend.

Under the influence of the northeast monsoon, it will be cooler over the weekend to early next week, The Hong Kong Observatory said on its website.

On Saturday, the temperature will drop to a minimum at 18 degrees, compared with the warm weather of 26 degrees on Friday. Sheueng Shui, the North District in the New Territories, will have 16 degrees.

Cloudy with rain and low visibility and isolated thunderstorms will be expected on Saturday too.

With the monsoon being replaced gradually by a warm and humid maritime airstream, temperatures will rise in the middle and latter parts of next week.
