A 29-year-old transgender woman who was spotted dancing and running over cars while naked in the busy streets of Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday will be held on remand until March 28.

The woman, thought to be from the Philippines, was first seen at an intersection in Bukit Bintang, where she began parading herself naked on the street, the China Press reported.

Videos of her that have since gone viral on social media show her climbing onto the roof of a car stuck in traffic and gesturing lewdly. She was also seen rolling on the ground.

Police arriving on the scene covered her with a piece of cloth before taking her into a police vehicle.

The woman was referred to Kuala Lumpur Hospital where, contrary to previous speculation, she was confirmed to have no mental issues.

The Kuala Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lazim said an investigation was ongoing.
