A Filipino migrant worker who was home in the Philippines on vacation has been shot dead inside a karaoke bar in Quezon province.
On Saturday evening in Barangay Comon, Christopher Espereto, a merchant marine, was with friends in a bar when a man, identified as Kenneth Avellano, approached him and shot him twice, Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
The report did not mention where Espereto was working before he came home on vacation.
Espereto was rushed to Claro M. Recto Memorial District Hospital, but died along the way due from the wounds to his chest.
Infanta Police chief Lowell Atienza said Espereto and Avellano were both under the influence of alcohol and had argued over a vacant table in the bar, which was eventually taken by Espereto and his friends.
“The killing was unfortunate because it was only triggered by an argument over a drinking table,” Atienza said.
The suspect was arrested and detained at the town police jail.
