A Mexican man was arrested at an airport in Indonesia on Monday March 25 after bullets were found in his luggage.
Officials at the Ngurah Rai Airport, the international airport in Denpasar in Bali, arrested Jose Fabian Ibarra Valdes, 32, as he was set to take a Jetstar Asia flight to Singapore, The Jakarta Post reported.
Aviation security officers discovered the bullets when Valdes’ bags were being scanned in the departures area.
Security officers conducted a manual search and found 10 bullets inside a plastic bag in his luggage. Valdes claimed that the suitcase belonged to his father and he was unaware of any bullets in the suitcase.
The Mexican failed to produce any permits for the bullets and has been detained by the authorities while further inquiries are undertaken.
Officials said bullets are categorized as dangerous goods that need special permits to be carried on aircraft.
