A Filipino man has been arrested for deliberately setting his house on fire in Tondo, Manila, injuring six people.

At about 8 pm on Saturday, Aldrin Manansala started a fire in his three-story house on Launasa Street at Barangay 155 by using a lighter and spray paint, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.

According to Senior Superintendent Jonas Silvano, the Manila City fire marshal, the fire burned for more than three hours and affected about 50 houses and 150 families. The fire was eventually put out at 12:10 am on Sunday.

Six people were injured and were rushed to hospital due to having difficulty breathing and high blood pressure. They are now in a stable condition.

Police said Manansala faced arson charges and would undergo a psychological examination. The Manila fire department said the damage to property was estimated at about one million pesos.
