Four people were injured in Hong Kong when a double-decker bus slammed into a footbridge after colliding with a private vehicle which then struck a taxi in Sheung Wan district on Sunday.

At 7am, a driver of a seven-seater van driving along Connaught Road reportedly ignored a traffic light and hit the number 113 Citybus travelling in the opposite direction near the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal, Sing Tao Daily reported.

After the collision, the bus mounted the pavement and tore down four bus stop signs before slamming into a footbridge. The van then collided with a taxi that was going towards Kennedy Town.

The 58-year-old bus driver, the 60-year-old van driver and the 64-year-old taxi driver suffered injuries and a 68-year-old bus passenger injured his arms and legs. They were all sent to the Queen Mary Hospital for medical treatment.

As the footbridge was badly damaged in the accident, it has been closed for maintenance.
