An Indonesian woman recently found guilty of stealing more than S$34,000 worth of items while working for Changi Airport Group chairman Liew Mun Leong and his family was sentenced to two years and two months’ jail on Monday.

Former domestic worker Parti Liyani, 45, was convicted on March 20 of four counts of theft from the Liews’ Chancery Lane house off Dunearn Road between March 2007 and October 2016, Lianhe Zaobao (Singapore) reported.

Handing down Parti’s sentence, District Judge Olivia Low noted that the accused took these items out of greed, given the quantity and variety of stolen items. She also took things which she may have thought were old, spoilt or forgotten, but which she had no immediate need for.

The worker had stolen from Liew, his two children Karl Liew and Liew Cheng May, as well as his daughter-in-law Heather Lim.

The articles stolen included a S$10,000 Gerald Genta watch, 115 items of clothing worth about S$150 each, as well as two iPhones with accessories valued at more than S$2,000 in total.

Parti intends to appeal against her conviction and sentence. She was told she would need to provide S$15,000 to get bail.
