A Filipino caregiver has been arrested in Israel after being accused of killing her 93-year-old employer.

Authorities said Jane Calimlim, 33, allegedly killed the elderly woman in December in her home in Givatayim in Tel Aviv. Calimlim had taken care of the elderly woman for the last four years, Times of Israel reported.

According to the woman’s daughter, the elderly woman started to complain and told her not to leave her alone with the Filipina. The family examined security footage from cameras in their apartment and saw that the Filipina had put a sticker on the camera that was aimed at the woman’s bed

“The day she put a sticker on the camera, my mom’s condition immediately deteriorated,” the woman’s daughter said.

The family brought the elderly woman to hospital, where she passed away soon after. This led the family to suspect that the Filipina had something to do with the woman’s death.

On Wednesday night, Calimlim was arrested on suspicion of murder. According to the police, Calimlim, who benefited financially from the woman’s death, contradicted herself during police questioning.

On Thursday, the Tel Aviv magistrate’s court extended Calimlim’s detention until Sunday.
