أعلن المسئولون بأوبرا لاسكالا العالمية في ميلان عن إعادة تبرع بقيمة ٣ مليون يورو من السعودية بعد انتقاد واسع من سياسيين ونشطاء إيطاليين للإتفاق بين الأوبرا ذات الشهرة العالمية والحكومة السعودية.
كانت تقارير كشفت يوم الأحد عن تلقي الأوبرا ٣ ملايين يورو من المملكة العربية السعودية في إطار اتفاق كان من المفترض أن ينتهي بتبرع السعودية ب١٥ مليون يورو للأوبرا وتعيين وزير الثقافة السعودي بدر بن عبد الله عضو في مجلسها.
إلا أن المدير التنفيذي للا سكالا أعلن أمس الإثنين أن التفاوض مع السعودية «عاد لنقطة الصفر» بعد ضغط سياسي للتراجع عن الاتفاق.
قال ماتيو سالفيني، نائب رئيس الوزراء الإيطالي قبيل اجتماع مجلس الأوبرا يوم الإثنين: «يمكنك أخذ الأموال ولكن ليس من كل الأشخاص، صحيح أن الأعمال لها خصوصيتها إلا أن هناك حدود، سواء كانت الصين أو السعودية».
تواجه الجهات العالمية المتعاونة مع المملكة العربية السعودية الضغط لقطع صلتها بها منذ مقتل الصحفي السعودي جمال خاشقجي داخل قنصلية بلاده في إسطنبول في شهر أكتوبر/تشرين الأول الماضي.
