آعلنت الرئاسة الجزائرية اليوم الآحد عودة الرئيس عبد العزيز بوتفليقة للبلاد في أعقاب تصاعد المظاهرات الشعبية الرافضة لترشحه لولاية رئاسية جديدة.

شهدت الجزائر يوم الجمعة أكبر مظاهرات منذ اندلاع التحرك شعبي الشهر الماضي، وقدرت بعض وسائل الإعلام الجزائرية عدد المتظاهرين في العاصمة بأكثر من مليون.

أطلقت القوات الغاز المسيل للدموع على المتظاهرين وأعلنت السلطات اعتقال ١٩٥ شخص في احتجاجات الجمعة.

اندلعت المظاهرات الحاشدة الشهر الماضي بعد إعلان الحزب الحاكم ترشيح بوتفليقة البالغ من العمر ٨١ عام لفترة جديدة في الانتخابات المزمع عقدها الشهر المقبل.

كان بوتفليقة أشاد بسلمية التظاهرات في رسالة يوم الخميس قرأتها نيابة عنه وزيرة الاتصالات هدى إيمان فرعون قال فيها أن سلمية التظاهرات تشير لنضج شباب الجزائر إلا أنه حذر من اختراق المظاهرات من قبل فئات داخلية وخارجية.

كان بوتفليقة، الذي قل ظهوره العام منذ إصابته بجلطة دماغية في ٢٠١٣،  تقدم رسمياً بأوراق ترشحه الأسبوع الماضي بالرغم من التظاهرات الحاشدة.
