Yuen Long, the New Territories

A woman and her Filipina domestic worker were lucky to escape with only minor injuries after an excavator fell from a truck and struck their car in Yuen Long, the New Territories on Thursday.

At 12:20 pm, when a 37-year-old female driver was driving her Tesla along Kam Tin Road, an excavator fell from a truck traveling in the opposite direction and hit her vehicle, news website HK01.com reported.

The right side of the Tesla was destroyed in the collision.

The driver suffered neck injuries and cuts to her hand from broken glass, while her 28-year-old domestic worker suffered minor injuries. They were sent to Pok Oi Hospital for medical treatment, Headline Daily reported.

The truck driver, aged 30, was unhurt and passed a breathalyzer test.

A belt was found to be broken on the right side of the truck’s flatbed trailer and police are investigating the incident.
