A Hong Kong employer urged other employers to care for their domestic workers to create a happy employer-employee relationship. The female employer shared her experience on social media by posting a few photos of her domestic worker, who was in tears, hugged a little girl, and some other photos showing a new smartphone, news website HK01.com reported.

The employer said the family noticed the maid’s phone was not functioning well and the family decided to buy her a new one. The domestic worker was overjoyed and broke into tears when she received the surprise gift.

The employer said she posted the experience as she wanted to share how she appreciated the worker had helped her family. She said the maid was away from her own family so employers should be more understanding and show they care.

The employer added that her maid had finished her second contract with the family and they were ready to sign a third contract with her. She advised other employers to show care and communicate more with their workers.

The post went viral on social media with more than 1,000 “likes” within an hour. Many internet commentators praised the employer and the family and called them a “model family.”
