A 16-year-old Indonesian girl who escaped one brothel in Malaysia only to be forced to work in another was finally rescued by authorities earlier this month.
Based on investigations and the girl’s testimony, officers from the Bukit Aman Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (D7C) Division raided a location in Bandar Baru Ampang, where they rescued two underage Indonesian women, both 16, who were allegedly controlled by a syndicate and coerced into prostitution, the China Press reported.
According to division principal assistant director Maszely Minhad, one of the victims, who had been promised a job in Malaysia by an Indonesian employment agency, arrived in Kuala Lumpur but was immediately sent to a brothel where she was forced to work as a prostitute.
The teenager was later helped to escape by another Indonesian woman, but was sent to another brothel.
Two Pakistani men and two Indonesian women, aged between 28 and 33, were also arrested for allegedly forcing women into prostitution, which violated Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.
