Two thieves robbed a man in Jakarta, Indonesia, by pretending to need directions from the Google Map app.

At around 5:30am on February 8, the victim, only identified as AM, was outside the Royal Taruma Hospital when the two perpetrators, identified in the report as RF and BGS, came by on a motorcycle, The Jakarta Post reported.

According to police officer Lambe Patabang, BGS asked the victim to help with directions from Google Maps on his phone. As he opened the app, BGS snatched the phone.

Lambe said that a scuffle took place before the two fled the scene. However, they fell to the ground about 10 meters away.

A police officer who was nearby held people cry out and gave chase. RF was caught by the officer but BGS got away with the victim’s phone.
