Chinese smartphone maker OPPO has demonstrated its first 5G phone and announced that it will launch it in Q2, The Paper reported.
The phone solves many challenges in antenna design, baseband, RF and power consumption and has complete 5G communication capabilities, the company said.
Meanwhile, OPPO has reached a cooperation agreement with four telecom operators around the world, including Swisscom in Switzerland, Singtel in Singapore and Australia’s Telstra and Optus. OPPO will work with them to promote its 5G phones in Europe, Oceania and Asia in the first half of 2019.
It is crucial for OPPO to enter the 5G debut list of four overseas telecom operators, as it will leave a positive impression for local consumers and lay the foundation for future 5G mobile phone shipments, said Meng Pu, chairman of Qualcomm China, one of OPPO’s major partners.
On the same day, its major competitor Huawei and Xiaomi also launched their first 5G phones.
