A 22-year-old foreign man died after falling from a building in Central on Hong Kong Island on Thursday.

At 2pm, police received a report that a man had fallen from a building on Duddell Street in Central, news website HK01.com reported.

The man was later found lying on the car park of New World Tower. Police and paramedics arrived and rushed the man to Queen Mary Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not find a suicide note at the scene.

It is understood that the man, said to be a French, visited a doctor and became emotional before jumping from the building.

Two people who were said to be the man’s relatives allegedly attacked and destroyed the equipment of two reporters attending the scene from a local newspaper. The two accused of the attack were taken to a police station for questioning.
