A Filipino woman in Dubai was among the winners during a raffle draw that was held at the city’s International Airport.
On Tuesday, Gifanny Banal won an Indian Chief Vintage motorcycle, which reportedly cost US$20,999 or about 1.1 million pesos, at the Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise promotions held at the airport’s Terminal 3, The Filipino Times reported.
Banal was among four winners of the Dubai Duty-Free Finest Surprise lucky draw, which gave away two luxury cars and two motorbikes to winners. A 55-year-old Indian man in Sharjah won a BMW Nine T motorbike, while another Indian won an Audi R8 V10 Coupe, and a Japanese national took home a brand new Mercedes Benz S560.
The Filipina was not available to comment on her lucky draw win.
Meanwhile, an Indian accountant won $1 million at the Millennium Millionaire lucky draw. Muhamad Aslam Arayilakath, 31, is the 139th Indian national to have won $1 million since the lucky draw began in 1999.
Many Filipinos in Dubai have won prizes in raffle draws, which helped them to support their families back home in the Philippines.
Earlier this month, a Filipino nurse won 100,000 dirhams ($27,229) in a raffle during the Dubai Shopping Festival. The Filipina nurse said she will use the money to fix her deceased parents’ resting place back home.
In December last year, a Filipino domestic worker won a luxury car in a raffle organized by a remittance center and planned to sell the prize to support her five children.
