A Chinese woman was arrested for assault after throwing a cup of taho – soy bean custard – at a police officer on a train station in Manila.

A Facebook post by Pau Mesias on Sunday shows photos of the Chinese woman, later identified as 23-year-old Jiale Zhang, immediately after she threw the dessert at the cop, who stopped her from entering the station.

The woman was stopped because drinks or liquids are prohibited inside stations and trains in the Philippine capital.

Zhang was apprehended and taken to the Mandaluyong Police Community Precinct 5. She faces charges of direct assault and disobedience to a person in authority and unjust vexation, Rappler reported.

With the “direct assault” charge, Zhang faces the risk of being jailed for between four months and four years.

Aside from the charges, the woman could also be deported. National Capital Region Police Office chief Guillermo Eleazar said they would recommend to the Bureau of Immigration that Zhang be declared an undesirable alien, which would be the basis for her to be sent back to China.

The Manila Metro Rail Transit System recently banned passengers from bringing liquids on to trains as an added security measure because of the threat of terrorists carrying liquid bombs. The ban came after a bombing in Jolo in Sulu in the country’s far south on January 27.
