A carnival in China with a ring toss game using live geese as the targets has become a trending topic in the country. The carnival in Puyang City, Henan, features visitors throwing rings into a pen of geese and anyone who gets one around a goose’s neck gets to take it home, Sina reported.

However, not many visitors were seen playing the game.

With five rings for 10 Yuan and 12 rings for 20 Yuan, it was assumed the low cost would attract players. However, that proved not to be the case. One man at the carnival said the owner continually slammed a stick on the ground to keep the geese moving, despite them looking sleepy. He added that playing the game would be like throwing money away.

Animal rights activists condemned the game and said the geese risked being injured by the rings being hurled at them. The game certainly ruffled a few feathers.
