A total of 15 Bruneians have been recognized by the country’s Royal Institution (RI) for their achievements in the professional field.

The Founder and Managing Director of Syarikat Pakar Tenaga Bersatu (PTB), Pengiran Hishamuddin Alli, announced the 15 being honored at a press conference on February 24, Borneo Bulletin reported.

The latest Royal Institution Singapore Global Congress and Conferment Ceremony is set to be held at The Empire Hotel & Country Club in Brunei Darussalam on February 26, with over 100 delegates from all over the world expected to attend the event.

Lasting three days, the event is themed “Global Leadership and Its Impact on Sustainable Development.”

PTB’s Deputy Managing Director Hajah Normawati said the group wishes to support the country’s Vision 2035, which will push for recognition of Brunei’s educated and skilled citizens on the international stage.

Normawati said over 180 trainees in 2018 have been given International Certificates by the Royal Institution that will help push their employability and their competency in the international labor supply.

A number of international speakers will present papers during the event’s Research Colloquium, including research papers about the oil and gas industry.

The event aims to promote Brunei as a destination for investment, tourism and education all the while recognizing citizens who have contributed greatly to the country.

RI and PTB will also work together on the Big BWN Project, which focuses on local youth development and promotes entrepreneurship. Local institutions and agencies have publicly shown support for the initiative.
