2月23日上午8點20分，內蒙古錫林郭勒盟西烏旗銀漫礦業公司發生嚴重車輛事故。當時，人員運送車輛正在往井下運送工人，這個過程中車輛失控，撞上輔助斜坡巷道，當場造成20人死亡，30人受傷。
昨天早晨，又有一名傷者在醫院搶救無效去世，使得此次事故死亡人數增至21人。29名受傷者正在醫院接受救治，其中危殆10人，重傷13人。
目前，車輛失控的原因還在調查中，初步調查顯示車輛是經過改裝的。
西烏珠穆沁旗銀漫礦業有限責任公司始建於2005年11月23日，自2007年12月5日至今聘請山東省地質礦產勘查開發局第六地質大隊做地質勘查。累計探礦投入達5.15億元人民幣（7,693萬美元），並取得了可觀的地質儲量。該礦區是中國有史以來地質探礦投入最多、施工網度最密、勘查成果最高、儲量最大的銀多金屬礦。
值得一提的是，該礦業公司早在2014年就因安全問題被相關部門給予罰款。
根據錫林郭勒盟西烏旗政府網，2014年9月8日至18日，相關部門對該旗轄區內的4戶地採0礦山和1戶小型露天採石企業進行了專項檢查，其中對西烏旗銀漫礦業有限責任公司SJ2現場氧氣與乙炔瓶安全不夠的違法違規行為進行立案查處，並給予2萬元的行政處罰。
