目前三人均於6日晚在曼哈頓刑事法庭過堂，面臨藏匿屍體、篡改物證等罪名。檢察官正在考慮是否提出更嚴重的指控罪名。法官裁定Jared Eng不得保釋，Jennifer Lopez的保釋金為10萬美元，Caitlyn O’Rourke則被要求提供2.5萬美元現金或5萬美元保釋金。

O’Rourke對探員稱，Eng與Lopez移動屍體後給她打電話，Eng向她承認自己在位於曼哈頓翠貝卡Vestry街的住處將母親割喉，告訴她Paula Chin「過了一會才死」，並向她尋求幫助。Lopez還幫助Eng清理了曼哈頓的住處，她給O’Rourke之間的短信裡寫道，「都很乾淨，最難的部分是倒車。」
O’Rourke還告訴警方稱，他們3人於2月1日又返回莫里斯縣的住宅，將裝有Paula Chin屍體的垃圾袋扔進屋外的一個垃圾桶內。她還試圖在家裡清洗犯罪現場的衣物。
警方在Paula Chin新澤西住宅的垃圾裡發現了帶血的橡膠手套，在車庫內還發現了血跡。而在Paula Chin位於曼哈頓的住宅中則發現了更多帶血的橡膠手套和血跡。
Jared Eng的哥哥Brandon Eng曾於4日致電警方，稱母親失蹤。當警方詢問Jared Eng是否知道母親的去向時，他當時淡定地對警方稱，自1月31日起就再未見過母親。
事發後被記者問到是否弒母時，Jared Eng說：「我沒有這麼做。我愛她，她給了我所有的一切。」
根據Paula Chin領英資料，她生前是PYCECO分發集團的總裁和C-E地產集團的主席，臉書的封面照還是2018年1月與兩個兒子去錫安（Zion）國家公園旅遊的合影。鄰居指出，Paula Chin的丈夫幾年前死於癌症。
