當地時間9日下午，一艘載有11名中國遊客的快艇在普吉海域與一艘停泊油輪相撞，導致11名中國遊客和2名船員受傷，無人死亡。
事發時快艇正由皮皮島（Koh Phi Phi）返回普吉島。傷者被送往普吉兩所醫院接受救治，無生命危險。截至目前已有6人出院或無需住院治療，其餘5人住院觀察，個別需要繼續治療。其中一人傷勢嚴重，傷者包括2名兒童。
這11名中國遊客來自浙江省杭州市的兩個家庭，以自由行方式到普吉旅遊。
除了11名中國遊客受傷外，普吉島海事辦公室主任Wiwat Chidcherdwong此前表示，快艇上的一名船長和一名船員也在事故中受傷。
據一位調查員表示，事故發生時，他們剛結束了皮皮島一日游，正在返回途中。在兩船相撞時，停泊的油輪僅受輕微損壞，快艇也沒有沉沒。
目前，海警正在調查兩船發生碰撞的原因。
當日，泰方普吉府副府尹、旅遊警察、移民局和遊客服務中心的負責人均赴醫院慰問傷者，並提供協助。10日上午，中國駐宋卡總領館駐普吉領辦負責人赴醫院看望傷員，所有遊客均情緒穩定。
另外，在2月8日，一艘載23名中國遊客的快艇撞上暗礁，並在事故發生後不久沉沒。幸所有遊客都被另一艘快艇救起，其中有2名遊客受輕傷。
