중국 증시는 25일 긍정적인 경제 뉴스와 미중 무역분쟁 완화 기대감에 힘입어 5% 이상 급등했다. 주가 상승을 주도한 종목은 금융주였다. 자산운용사인 중국화룽자산관리공사가 10.34% 상승하는 등 항셍중국기업지수내 상승률 상위 9개 종목이 보험이나 증권 업종이었다. 센젠 CSI 300지수 상승을 견인한 것도 금융주였다. 금융주는 8% 가까이 상승했고, 정보통신관련주가 7% 상승했다.
중국에서는 미중 무역분쟁 완화 이상의 호재가 등장하고 있다. 1월 중 여신 증가세는 중국의 신중한 리플레이션을 반영하고 있다. 적절한 수준의 신규 대출 증가세는 중국 경제에 자금을 공급할 수 있는 인민은행의 능력을 입증했다. 금융주 상승에는 중국 정부가 지속적으로 자본시장 개방에 나설 것이라는 기대감도 반영됐다.
중국에 진출한 유럽 기업의 주식도 급등했다. 이런 주식은 현재 중국 기업의 주식보다 저평가된 상황에서 중국 경제 성장의 수혜를 볼 수 있는 종목이다. 중국 주식의 추격 매수를 정당화하기는 쉽지 않다. 하지만 중국 경제에 대한 낙관적인 전망의 수혜를 보고 싶은 투자자라면 중국 사업 규모가 큰 글로벌 기업의 주식 매수를 고려할 만하다.
독일에서 가장 많이 팔리는 자동차 브랜드인 폭스바겐 주식은 독일 증시에서 3% 상승했고, 다임러 벤츠도 2.4% 상승했다. 폭스바겐의 주가수익비율(PER)은 6.5배, 다임러 벤츠는 7.9배로 중국 창청자동차에 비해 낮다. 에어버스나 헨켈, 스웨덴의 SKF, ABB, Alfa Laval, Hexagon AG. 등도 중국 사업 규모가 큰 기업이다.
미국 증시는 미중 갈등 완화라는 훈풍에도 미국 경제에 대한 우려가 고조되면서 0.5%에 못 미치는 상승률을 나타냈다. 1분기 중 S&P 500지수내 11개 업종 중 10개 업종의 순이익이 지난해 같은 달에 비해 감소할 것 이라는 전망이 나왔다. S&P 500 지수 상장자 전체 순익은 1분기에 2.7% 감소할 것으로 전망됐다.
Netherlands Central Planning Bureau에 따르면 지난해 12월과 연간 전 세계 수출과 수입이 감소세를 나타냈다. 한국의 1월 수출이 전년동월대비 5.8% 감소한 것처럼 세계 교역 감소세가 1월에도 지속될 전망이다.
미국 시카고연방은행의 전미활동지수도 1월 중 –0.43으로 전월의 0.05에서 급격한 하락세를 나타냈고, 3개월 이동평균도 2017년 중반 이후 처음으로 하락세로 돌아섰다. 전미활동지수의 하락은 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령의 감세 정책의 효과가 사라지고 있다는 주장에 힘을 더할 전망이다.
지난주 미국 상무부는 자동차를 제외한 소매판매가 1.8% 감소했다고 밝혔다. 일부 애널리스트는 이 지표가 온라인 판매에 충실하게 반영되지 않았다고 지적했다. 하지만 소매판매 부진은 미국 경제의 유일한 성장엔진인 가계 지출 위축을 보여주고 있다. 자본투자나 주택 거래, 수출이 모두 부진해 현재 미국 경제는 민간소비에 의존해 성장하고 있다.
