A 40-year-old female visitor from mainland China was rescued after she fell into the sea from the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront in Kowloon on Thursday night.

The accident happened at around 11pm when the woman was visiting the waterfront promenade near the Hong Kong Cultural Center in Tsim Sha Tsui, Apple Daily reported.

It is understood that she was standing close to the water’s edge when she suddenly lost her balance and fell into the sea.

Witnesses to the incident immediately threw her a lifebelt and pulled her back to the shore.

The woman was conscious throughout the rescue. Paramedics arrived and sent her to hospital for examination.

After an initial investigation, police believe that it was an accident.

Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront outside the Hong Kong Cultural Center is popular among visitors who go there to enjoy the spectacular night view across Victoria Harbor to Hong Kong island.
