A Filipino student who fell into a coma for two days after he was beaten by three of his schoolmates has passed away.

On Tuesday, Kenneth Langit, 19, a Grade 11 student at Mangaldan National High School in Pangasinan in the Philippines was allegedly beaten by three Grade 12 students when one of the students challenged Langit to a fist fight, GMA News reported.

Langit and his classmate were on their way back to class when they ran into the three students at the school gym.

Langit fought back but two other students joined the fight and beat him up. Security guards arrived and stopped the fight but Langit collapsed to the ground. He was rushed to a hospital where he was in a coma for two days.

On Thursday evening, Langit reportedly passed away. Authorities are investigating the suspects’ motive, including the possibility that the fight had something to do with a girl. A relative of Langit said the girlfriend of one of the suspects apparently had a crush on Langit.

The police have arrested the three suspects, who were charged with ‘frustrated murder’.
