A student was saved after attempting to jump off a school building in Sham Shui Po, Kowloon, on Wednesday. At about noon, police received a report that a primary six student at St Francis of Assisi’s Caritas School was standing on a ledge on the second floor, news website HK01.com reported.

Teachers had called police. The student later came off the ledge and was sent to a hospital accompanied by a teacher and a social worker. The vice-principal said the student had calmed down and was stable after being sent to a hospital.

The boy had not finished his homework and was worried about his marks being deducted. Parents and students said they were under stress as there was too much homework. In general, about five to six lots of homework were given every day, but the amount sometimes jumped to more than 10.
