Malaysian police are looking for a man who allegedly murdered his 33-year-old Indonesian lover, whose body was found naked on a bed at her home in Selangor last Thursday evening.
Jamilah Mat Shaari, a single mother who was working as a part-time domestic worker in Malaysia to raise her 10-year-old daughter, lived in a rented house with four other family members in Taman Universiti, Seri Kembangan in Selangor, the China Press reported.
At about 5 pm on January 17, her body was found on the bed in her room with socks tied around her neck. Her 34-year-old sister-in-law found her when she returned from work.
The house was also found to have been ransacked and some of the victims’ personal items such as her mobile phone, money and jewelry were gone, according to her sister-in-law.
Based on the post-mortem, she died from suffocation by strangling. She had not been raped despite the fact that she was naked.
A preliminary police investigation suggested the victim, who had returned home for lunch and prayer at noon, was allegedly killed by her boyfriend while she wrapped herself in a towel before heading for a shower.
The suspect was believed to be hiding in Klang Valley, Kuala Lumpur.
