A Filipino migrant worker who was previously charged with committing murder in the Philippines was arrested in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

According to Atty. Manuel Dimaano, National Bureau of Investigation-International Airport Investigation Division chief, the migrant worker Jessie Cadiang had an arrest warrant issued against him for murder in Capas, Tarlac in the Philippines, GMA News reported.

In September last year, Cadiang flew to Abu Dhabi to escape the charges against him. However, the migrant worker was arrested in November by Interpol in Abu Dhabi and papers for his deportation were lodged and processed.

The accused arrived in the Philippines on January 18 and was immediately brought to Capas to face charges. Although precise details are not known, the family of the victim reportedly filed a case against Cadiang for murder.

In the Philippines, murder is punishable by reclusión perpetua, or a jail term of up to 40 years.
