A man has been filmed running across the train tracks in Tai Wai Station in the New Territories on Thursday to get to the opposite platform.

At about 7 am, staff at Tai Wai Station on the East Rail Line saw a male passenger standing on platform 2 waiting for a train in the Hung Hom direction. The man then jumped the tracks, Apple Daily reported.

Station staff immediately activated the emergency system to stop the oncoming train while other staff informed the control room to look for the passenger and reported the case to the police.

After checking the footage, the man was seen running across the tracks to the opposite platform before getting aboard the other train going in the Sha Tin direction.

Train services were temporarily suspended for 15 minutes.
