A Chinese girl who went missing when she was 14 has been found by her mother six years later – after giving birth to three children and now suffering from schizophrenia.

The girl, who ran away from her home in Henan province six years ago after a quarrel with her brother, was recognized by her mother on a street. In the six years she was gone, she was raped and had three children, thepaper.cn reported.

While walking on a street after running away from home, she was allegedly kidnapped by a 60-year-old man and locked inside a house. She claimed she was raped by the man and his son and later gave birth to three children. She said the eldest child was fathered by the older man and she had twins to his son.

On January 24, 2018, the girl was on a street and dressed in rags and was seen by her mother, who spoke to her three times before the girl recognized her. She was sent to a hospital where she was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

On November 21, the elderly man was arrested for allegedly raping the girl. He was sent to court on December 26. However, his son was not charged as he appeared to have mental problems.

The woman’s lawyer said the man’s son should also face rape charges. The lawyer said the elder man should also be charged with illegal detention, while his family should face charges of harboring criminals.

The lawyer added that more investigation was needed to discover if the girl had been abused during her detention, which caused her schizophrenia. He said her former classmates could prove she was healthy before she went missing. The trial is ongoing.
