An Indonesian domestic worker on Friday denied a defense lawyer’s claim at the Hong Kong High Court that she had falsely accused his client, the 27-year-old son of her employer, of rape.
The defendant, construction worker Fung Hoi-yeung, stands charged with one count of rape of a 26-year-old woman who had worked for the family for only five days, Oriental Daily reported. He denies the charge.
During Friday’s hearing, Fung’s defense lawyer told the court that the alleged victim, identified as X, wanted to resign after finding that she needed to take care of a family of eight people.
The lawyer said that when X found she could receive one month’s salary in lieu of notice and a return ticket only if the employer had terminated the contract without notice, she falsely accused the defendant of raping her.
The lawyer said X stored the defendant’s underpants with his sperm on them to use as evidence. As for bloodstains found on a bedsheet and on her clothes, the lawyer said those were her menstrual blood.
X denied the lawyer’s allegations.
The crime allegedly took place in 2017 in a public housing apartment in Tin Tsz Estate in Tin Shui Wai, New Territories. The worker sent a text message to her agent about the alleged rape and the latter reported it to the police.
The woman’s clothes and bedsheet were collected for examination and it was confirmed that both X’s blood and the defendant’s sperm were found.
The case continues.
